Epic Games is being sued for deceptive practices in Fortnite
Have you ever noticed the countdown timer in Fortnite’s Item Shop? Well, two parents in San Francisco have alleged that these timers are deceptive, showing false countdowns to incite impulsive purchasing behaviour from Fortnite players.
This isn’t the first time Epic Games have been in hot water for this, as a similar lawsuit popped up in the Netherlands in 2024, citing that out of the 60 items that displayed a 24 hour timer, half were found to continue past this 24 hour limit.
While changes to the timers have already been made in Fortnite, likely due to the lawsuit in the Netherlands, items do currently display the correct time and date it is to leave the store.
While a wise move from Epic Games, this, however, does not compensate those affected by the previous timers which explains why this lawsuit has appeared after these changes came into effect.

GTA VI’s Staggering PC Requirements
Industry analysts have speculated the potential PC requirements for Grand Theft Auto VI’s anticipated release from Rockstar. For recommended settings, predictions have come in potentially requiring:
- CPU: Intel Core i7-11700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER or RTX 3080 / AMD Radeon RX 6800XT
- RAM: 16 GB or more
- Storage: 150 GB to 200 GB
At current prices, you’re looking at around $2700 (AUD) to meet the recommended system requirements, based on current PC part costs.
Based on these estimates, you’d need a NASA-level computer for anything above a moderate graphics setting.
